“One of the music world’s rising stars…Put him in front of an orchestra and he becomes a human dynamo.”
Gramophone, 2022
“Startlingly excellent…Treviño maintains irresistible momentum, absorbing each detail into the general crescendo…he doesn’t skimp on the menace, but he and his musicians keep swinging to the end, dancing into darkness.”
Alex Ross, The New Yorker, 2022

Robert Treviño

Robert Treviño has rapidly emerged as one of the most exciting American conductors of the younger generation performing today. He was also Chief Conductor of the Malmo Symphony Orchestra 2019-2021 and has taken many orchestras on international tours, including, among others, Germany, Austria, France and Italy.

The 2025–26 season will see Robert Treviño with, among others, SWR Stuttgart, Orchestra della Svizzera Italiana, Sinfonieorchester Basel, London Symphony Orchestra, Bamberger Symphoniker, Orchestre Philharmonique de Strasbourg, Wiener Symphoniker, Duisburger Philharmoniker, Toscanini Orchestra, Jerusalem Symphony Orchestra and a return to Japan with Osaka Philharmonic Orchestra.

He has led orchestras at many leading festivals, among them Mahler Festival Leipzig, Enescu Festival, Milan Mahler Festival and Puccini Festival. Treviño’s opera work has included productions at Washington National Opera as well as recent productions at Opernhaus Zürich (Turandot) and La Fenice (Don Giovanni).

His recording contract with Ondine resulted in a complete Beethoven symphonies cycle, two Ravel albums, a Rautavaara album and “Americascapes” – a widely acclaimed survey of little-known American masterpieces, that won ‘Best Recording of 2021’ from Presto Music and was shortlisted for a Gramophone Award. “Americascapes 2 – American Opus” was released in late 2024. A cycle of Bruch symphonies with the Bamberger Symphoniker was released by CPO, now considered the modern reference recording.
