Swedish conductor Sergej Bolkhovets has established himself as acompelling artist on the podium, building upon his already extensiveinternational career as a violinist, including with the BerlinerPhilharmoniker.
Highlights of the 2025/26 season include a close collaborationwith the Helsingborg Symphony, comprising four concert productions. Bolkhovetsreturns in subscription to the Swedish Chamber Orchestra, with whom he shares along-standing collaboration. He conducts concerts with the Malmö Symphony,Norrköping Symphony, Wermland Opera, Romanian Radio National Orchestra and SzczecinPhilharmonic Symphony Orchestra. Last season Bolkhovets made debuts with theRoyal Stockholm Philharmonic, Staatstheater Kassel and Volkstheater Rostock. Hereturned to the Royal Swedish Opera and the Gothenburg Opera, where hepreviously held the Kapellmeister position from 2020 to 2022, as well as to theMalmö and Helsingborg Symphonies. Further recent conducting engagements includeperformances with the Bayerische Staatsoper, Luzern Sinfonieorchester,Bamberger Symphoniker, Philharmonisches Orchester Hagen, BBC Scottish Symphony,BBC Philharmonic, Hallé in Manchester, Manchester Camerata, Scottish Opera, RedNote Ensemble, Dalasinfoniettan, Stockholm Folkoperan, NorrlandsOperan and theGävle Symphony.
Bolkhovets was the Conducting Fellow at the Royal NorthernCollege of Music, Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, and Verbier Festival, havingstudied orchestra conducting at the Franz Liszt Academy of Music in Weimar andthe Royal College of Music in Stockholm. He served as Assistant Conductor atthe BBC Scottish Symphony in 2019-20, and has participated in masterclasses andconducting workshops with a.o. Paavo Järvi, David Zinman, working with theTonhalle Orchestra Zurich, the Swedish Radio Symphony, Royal Scottish National,and the London Sinfonietta.
